My Dremel model 328 from 1987 is 20 mm by 2.5 mm pitch, My Dremel model XPR 400 2008, is 3/4 inch and 12 TPI. I have no idea why the 1987 dremel is metric and the XPR 400 is imperial. The moulded thread on the XPR 400 measures .741 to .746 diameter.It is not round.

While you can buy a tap that would fit it, they're hard to find and just about the cost of a Stew Mac base if I remember correctly. Also, you're likely to use it once, and that's no way to save money.

Most of the Dremel accessory shank sizes are 0.126inches (3.2 mm). Other shank sizes include 2.4 mm, 1.6 mm, and 0.8 mm.
